Curry Greer Family History Dwellings and Burials page 10

County Down.
Dwellings. We have not located any early dwellings or burials for Currys in Co Down. Said to be from Anahilt, possibly Magheraconluce.
County Antrim.
Dwellings. The first located Curry dwelling was in the grounds of Barnett's Park, Malone, Belfast. The demesne (pronounced domain) runs down to the River Lagan which is the border between Counties Down and Antrim in this area.
We understand that Robert Curry was the first occupant/land-steward here, that he died c1840 and that his son William (age about 17) took on the caretaking of the estate.
The Curry Cottage (now gone (2004) for housing development) was situated at the top of the Dub Lane in a corner of the Malone House grounds and the Curry occupant was the Land Steward for the estate :-
"After the death of the owner W.W Legge in 1865, his widow retired to England, leaving a Belfast solicitor J Torrens, to act as agent and the steward William Curry to look after the agricultural management."  An amended extract from the book "Malone House" by Robert Scott and others.
Four generations of Curry lived there, the final Curry leaving in 2003.
Burials.
The earliest are located in Drumbeg Cemetery, Robert James Curry (1876-1943)and his wife Charlotte Galway (1886- ?) are buried there. There is no headstone.
William Curry1 (1821 - 1891/2) and his wife Jane Johnston (1836 - 1913) in Balmoral Cemetery, Belfast, close to Malone Presbyterian Church. Unfortunately there does not appear to be any plan/location of the numbered graves so the actual plot has not been found.
William 2 Charles Curry, his wife Elizabeth Donaldson and their unmarried offspring, Herbert and Winifred are buried in Dundonald Cemetery, Belfast.
More recent burials have taken place at Roselawn.
County Armagh
Dwellings.
Early sources/dwellings have not been found for Greers.
However 19 High Street Lurgan is where they lived and worked (Blacksmiths/Coachbuilders), possibly four generations the last departing in 1911?
Burials.
William Henry Greer, his wife Rachael Mercer and a number of his family are interred at Shankill Cemetery in Lurgan town, and there is an inscribed headstone.
